Virginia Lea Watson

Virginia Lea Watson, 59, of Indian Trail passed away on October 8, 2023 in Novant Health Matthews Medical Center.  A Celebration of her life will be held on November 4th, 2023 at 4 PM at Siler Presbyterian Church, 6301 Weddington Road, Matthews, NC 28104. 

Born December 16th, 1963 in Mecklenburg County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Emory Petty Jr. and Peyton Babb of Indian Trail.  She was a graduate of Myers Park High School and worked in Pediatric Medicine for over a decade.  She loved her children Sarah and Riley and her grandsons Caleb and Cameron.  She loved music, especially classic rock, and enjoyed concerts.  A kind and generous spirit who loved life, she was a nature and animal lover and one of her favorite things was walking on the beach in the moonlight.  At the end of her life she was able to help others she did not know to live by donating her organs.  She was the first organ donor to give these gifts at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. 

Lea is survived by her mother, Peyton Babb (Robert) of Indian Trail, children Sarah Caldwell (Joel) of Waxhaw and Riley Watson of Pineville, sisters Beth Yandle (Jeff) of Monroe and Kelly Winn (Dan) of Ohio, brother Chip Petty (Stephanie) of Virginia, two grandsons Caleb and Cameron Caldwell.
