Obituary

Rev. Wayne William Blanton, 89, of Monroe, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 15, 2023 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church in Monroe. The service will be conducted by the Revs. Bobby Leonard and Kenneth Faulkenberry. Rev. Blanton will lie in state at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. A private family graveside service will immediately follow the 1:00 PM memorial service at Lakeland Memorial Park. Rev. Blanton was born October 15, 1933 in Burke County, a son of the late Rev. William Lawrence Blanton and the late Mrs. Vangie Crotts Blanton. Rev. Blanton was a preacher of the Gospel who loved to sing. He served for more than 50 years preaching and pastoring over a dozen churches in an area ranging from Union County to Yadkin County in Piedmont NC, helping plant churches, holding revival campaigns, encouraging and training numerous young pastors as he endeavored to faithfully model the Word of God that he loved and preached. He was a faithful, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather…truly a happy warrior for Jesus Christ. Rev. Blanton is preceded in death by his dear wife of 61 years, Mrs. Ruth Rich Blanton; He is survived by his loving wife of 7 months, Mrs. Brenda Holloway Stallings Blanton of the home; LeAnn Blanton Kee (Barry, Sr.) of Monroe; one son, Ronnie Blanton (Teressa) of Conover; five grandchildren, Amy Chandler (Richard), Randy File (Stacey), Barry Kee, Jr. (Paula); Dawn Blanton; Joshua Blanton (Sarah). There are also eight great-grandchildren, Justin Chandler, Kierstin Chandler, Dawson Burris, Trenton Burris, Ethan Blanton, Billy Kee, Adalyn Blanton, and Noah Blanton. Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church is located at 2900 Walkup Ave., Monroe, NC. An online guestbook will be available at www.davisfuneralservice.com.
